The hairy truth.

A handful of us have forsaken shaving our top lips this month in order to support Movember.

Movember do a great job in not only raising awareness of key men's health issues, but also directly support research into prostate and testicular cancer.

1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lives, that's about 40,000 men per year, and one man is dieing every hour of every day.

But it's not all doom and gloom, survival rates for men with testicular cancer are now up to 95% thanks to programs like Movembers rasing money which goes directly into research.

You can help!

Although some of us are doing the hairy work, everyone reading this can help. You can donate and know that 88% of your donation goes directly to the causes we want to support because Movember is a member of the Fundraising Standards Board.

And it doesn't stop there. If you are of the male persuasion the one thing we'd like you to take away from this is to check yourself regularly. This great guide (contains images of an explicit medical nature) will show you how to go about it. And if you do suspect something get yourself down to the doctors, they no longer bite!

If you don't have your own balls or prostate gland then encourage the men in your life to check theirs, early diagnosis increases survival rates dramatically.

Praise be that it's all over - a month of moustache does nobody, especially you guys, any favours. But seriously, well done to support the fundraising for a very worthwhile cause.
